Under the hood, the Idol 3 features a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset. This is backed by an octa-core CPU that comprises four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four more at 1.0 GHz, paired with an Adreno 405 GPU. Together, they deliver a reasonably smooth performance suitable for day-to-day tasks and moderate multitasking. At its launch, the phone ran on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, and it was upgradable to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, providing a refined user experience with improved features and security. The device comes with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage and 2GB of RAM, along with a dedicated microSDXC slot for expandable storage, which is a practical feature for media-savvy users.
