Design and Build
The Alcatel OT 500 embodies the classic, compact design that was typical of mobile phones around the turn of the millennium. Its dimensions of 103 x 42 x 23 mm provide a fairly small footprint, fitting snugly in the palm. Weighing 103 grams, it strikes a balance between portability and durability. The use of a Mini-SIM card highlights the transitional phase of SIM card technology from the larger full-size SIMs to today's nano SIMs. Offered in a selection of five colors, the phone allowed users a bit of personal style, which was quite forward-thinking at the time.
