As a basic handset, the Alcatel OT 525 doesn't incorporate a camera or advanced multimedia features which are common in more recent phones. In terms of sound, it does not feature a loudspeaker or a 3.5mm audio jack, but it offers a vibrate alert and the ability to download polyphonic ringtones, which was quite a trendy feature at the time.
The phone's communication features are indicative of the era with no Bluetooth, WLAN, or USB support. It does support basic 2G GSM network technology allowing for voice calls and SMS messaging. Internet capabilities were limited, with a WAP 1.2.1 browser providing very basic web access.
