Under the hood, the Fire 7 (2017) is powered by a MediaTek MT8127 chipset with a quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and a Mali-450MP4 GPU. Featuring 1GB of RAM, the tablet is designed for basic tasks and does not support intensive gaming or multitasking. Out of the box, it runs on Amazon’s customized version of Android 5.1 Lollipop, known as Fire OS 5.4. This operating system is tailored towards Amazon's ecosystem, meaning users can access Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, seamlessly, and enjoy various Amazon services although at a level best suited for casual users.
