Under the hood, the Fire HD 6 is powered by a quad-core processor, with two cores running at 1.5 GHz and two at 1.2 GHz. Combined with 1GB of RAM, the performance is adequate for basic tasks such as web browsing, reading, and streaming media. However, more intensive applications or multitasking may lead to slower performance. The device originally shipped with a customized version of Android 4.4 KitKat, known as Fire OS 4, which is tailored to integrate seamlessly with Amazon services like Kindle, Amazon Prime, and Alexa.
