Underneath its hood, the Zenfone 2 Laser ZE600KL packs a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa-core processor setup (four cores at 1.7 GHz and another four at 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53). This configuration, along with an Adreno 405 GPU, provided respectable performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming during its initial release period. The phone came with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and internal storage options of 16GB or 32GB, expansible via a dedicated microSD slot. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, it was upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, featuring Asus' ZenUI which offered customizable user experiences.
