At the heart of the Zenfone 2 ZE550ML lies the Intel Atom Z3560 chipset, backed by a quad-core 1.8 GHz CPU and PowerVR G6430 GPU. The combination was quite innovative at launch, given the dominance of Qualcomm and MediaTek in other devices. While performance for resource-heavy applications and future software was limited, the hardware was adequate for typical tasks such as web browsing, social media, and casual gaming. The device shipped with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and was upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), benefiting from Asus's ZenUI, which offered additional customization.
