Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Zenfone 3 Max is powered by a Mediatek MT6737M chipset, coupled with a quad-core 1.25 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and a Mali-T720MP2 GPU. It originally ran on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow but was upgradable to Android 7.0 Nougat, supplemented with Asus’s ZenUI 3. The performance is satisfactory for basic tasks such as web browsing, social media, and light gaming. However, with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, the phone struggles with more demanding applications and multitasking.
