Operating on GSM technology, the S798 supported 2G bands. It included both GSM 900/1800 bands common in many regions and 850/1900 bands for US compatibility. Communication features were limited; it lacked GPRS and EDGE support, making it unsuitable for any serious data connectivity. However, it did support SMS for basic messaging needs.
