Under the hood, the BlackBerry KeyOne operates on the Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset, a reliable performer known for its power efficiency. It comprises an octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 506 GPU, facilitating smooth multitasking and operation of graphically intensive applications. The device was initially launched with Android 7.1 (Nougat) but can be upgraded to Android 8.1 (Oreo), offering improved features and enhanced security typical of BlackBerry’s DNA. Depending on the model, it comes with either 32GB of internal storage paired with 3GB of RAM or an upgraded 64GB storage with 4GB of RAM, supporting additional storage via microSDXC, though it uses a shared SIM slot.
