Under the hood, the BlackBerry PlayBook runs on the BlackBerry Tablet OS, powered by a TI OMAP 4430 chipset with a dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This hardware combination was decent for multitasking and running applications at the time of its release. However, by modern standards, it may seem underpowered for more demanding tasks. The PlayBook was available in three storage variants: 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, each coupled with 1GB of RAM, which, while adequate for basic tasks and apps, might be limiting for resource-intensive applications due to the absence of an expandable storage option.
