Design and Build
The Ericsson GH 688 sports a compact and sturdy design, with dimensions of 130 x 49 x 23 mm and a weight of 160 grams. This heft gave the phone a substantial feel compared to today’s ultralight smartphones, but this was typical for the technology available at the time. The phone utilizes a Mini-SIM card, consistent with the standards of its day. Its design includes a notable alphanumeric display which could show 3 lines of text, each with up to 12 characters, along with fixed icons to indicate the status of various features. While basic by today's standards, this display was functional for its intended purpose.
