Under the hood, the Gionee S9 is powered by a Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset with an octa-core CPU configuration, split between four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and another four at 1.0 GHz. Coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, this setup was capable of handling everyday tasks smoothly and supporting moderate multitasking. Its Mali-T860MP2 GPU handles gaming and graphics applications, suitable for casual gaming experiences prevalent during its release. However, the phone runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) with Gionee’s custom Amigo 3.5 interface, which may feel dated compared to newer systems and limits software upgrade paths.
