Performance and Software
Under the hood, the HTC Desire 526 runs on a Qualcomm MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 chipset, with a quad-core 1.1 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and Adreno 304 GPU. This hardware configuration supports basic tasks and light app usage quite well. However, demanding applications and multitasking may lead to noticeable slowdowns. The phone includes 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable via a dedicated microSDXC slot, which is a practical feature for users needing extra storage space on a budget.
The device originally shipped with Android 5.1 (Lollipop) layered with HTC's Sense 7 UI. While the software is user-friendly and adds customization options, the lack of upgrade path limits its appeal in the long run. HTC Sense enhancements bring useful features but doesn’t fully compensate for the outdated operating system.
