Powered by a 1.0 GHz Cortex-A5 processor on the Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon S1 chipset, accompanied by an Adreno 200 GPU, the Desire V is not built for heavy multitasking or gaming. The 512MB of RAM severely limits its ability to handle more demanding applications, but it can manage simpler tasks and essential applications adequately. Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's Sense UI 4 layer, the interface feels intuitive enough but might show signs of lag during intensive usage scenarios. The user experience is further enhanced with 25GB of Dropbox cloud storage, allowing for a bit of flexibility given the limited internal storage of 4GB—expandable via a microSDHC card slot.
