HTC S630 Design and Display

Design and Display

The HTC S630 presents a compact and solid design typical of mid-2000s smartphones, weighing 120 grams and sporting dimensions of 112.5 x 62.5 x 13.5 mm. This makes it pocket-friendly yet sturdy. A significant feature is its full QWERTY keyboard, which caters to users who preferred tactile feedback while typing compared to today’s capacitive touchscreens. The display is a 2.4-inch TFT screen supporting 65K colors, modest by today’s standards, and offering a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It covered about 25.4% of the body, leaving the rest for the keyboard and navigation keys. The screen's pixel density of 167 PPI, though low, was fairly typical for that time. A unique aspect of the S630 is the HTC JOGGR touch-sensitive navigation bar, adding an interesting way to navigate without solely relying on physical keys.
