Under the hood, the Huawei Ascend W1 operates on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system. It's powered by a Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon 400 chipset with a dual-core 1.2 GHz Krait CPU and an Adreno 305 GPU. This setup is complemented by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a microSDHC card. The performance, while limited, was suitable for basic usage at launch, handling tasks like social media, email, and light applications adequately.
