Display
The display on the i-mate JAQ is a 2.8-inch TFT resistive touchscreen with support for 65K colors, offering a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The relatively low screen-to-body ratio of around 28% means that much of the device's front panel is taken up by the keyboard, not the display. With a pixel density of approximately 143 ppi, the screen was not the sharpest even by the standards of its time, but it managed to serve the needs of basic productivity tasks and light internet browsing. A unique feature was its support for handwriting recognition, an innovative attempt to integrate touch-based interaction with stylus input.
