Under the hood, the SP5m ran Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone edition, providing users access to an array of productivity applications and tools that were innovative for the time. Powered by a TI OMAP 730 chipset and a 200 MHz ARM926EJ-S CPU, its performance was modest. The 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM seemed limited by today's standards, yet this configuration was adequate for running basic applications and performing everyday tasks back then. Expansion via a miniSD card slot allowed users to increase storage, supporting greater flexibility in storing files and applications.
