Under the hood, the Tab 2 A8-50 is powered by a Mediatek MT8735 chipset for the 4G model and a Mediatek MT8161 for the Wi-Fi variant, both built on a 28nm process. It runs on a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz, coupled with a Mali-T720MP2 GPU. While these specifications ensure a smooth performance for basic applications and multitasking, the 1GB RAM can be a constraint, especially when running more demanding apps or using multiple applications simultaneously. The tablet operates on Android 5.0 Lollipop, an OS that was relatively modern upon release, but it lacks the features and optimizations found in later Android versions.
