Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Micromax A88 runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, which was relatively fresh at the time of the phone's release. Powered by a Mediatek MT6577 chipset paired with a dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, the device handled everyday tasks with reasonable performance. The included PowerVR SGX531u GPU allowed for basic gaming and graphics handling, although demanding applications would challenge its capabilities.
The phone’s memory configuration of 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage, with only about 2GB available to the user, limited multitasking and storage capacity. Nonetheless, the presence of a dedicated microSDHC card slot provided a welcome option for expanding storage for photos, music, and apps.
