Audio and Connectivity
For audio, the phone includes stereo speakers for loudspeaker functionality but lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, thus restricting personal audio use to its onboard speakers or Bluetooth audio devices. Bluetooth 1.1 ensures basic wireless connectivity, though it lacks the speed and reliability of subsequent Bluetooth versions. The device also features vibration alerts along with downloadable polyphonic and MP3 ringtones, catering to customization preferences.
In terms of connectivity, the phone supports GSM and UMTS networks, offering 3G speeds up to 384 kbps, which was reasonable for the period, providing better internet access compared to purely GSM-based devices. However, the absence of WLAN and radio features limited its capabilities as a multimedia device. Location-based services were facilitated through GPS and A-GPS, a forward-thinking inclusion from Motorola, although practical usage was hampered by the small screen and limited map applications.
