Performance and Operating System
Powered by an Intel XScale processor running at 312 MHz and based on a Linux operating system, the A1200 delivered decent performance for typical applications of its time. The device was not designed for heavy multitasking or processing-intensive applications, but it handled day-to-day tasks with reasonable efficiency. Memory was one of its limitations, with only 8 MB of user memory. However, this was somewhat mitigated by the inclusion of a dedicated microSD card slot, enabling expansion for additional storage.
