Running on the Linux-based MOTOMAGX operating system, the Motorola EM35 was part of Motorola's strategy to deliver feature-rich phones without venturing into the smartphone territory. MOTOMAGX supports Java-based applications, allowing for a somewhat customizable user experience despite its inherent limitations compared to more modern smartphone OS environments.
