Design and Build
The Motorola FLIPSIDE MB508 prides itself on a compact design, measuring 109.5 x 57.5 x 15 mm and weighing a substantial 145 grams. Though relatively thick by today's standards, it provided a robust build which was comforting to hold. Its standout feature was a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a significant appeal for users who valued the tactile typing experience over touchscreen inputs, and it came with a touch-sensitive trackpad for navigation. The use of a Mini-SIM was typical of the time, adding a spectrum of nostalgia to the device. However, its screen-to-body ratio of approximately 45.4% by modern measures, coupled with a TFT display was less impressive, though adequate for the era.
