Motorola M3188 Design and Build

Design and Build

Released in 1999, the Motorola M3188 embraced the robust and bulky design typical of its time. With dimensions of 140 x 50 x 25 mm and a weight of 170 grams, it was significantly larger and heavier compared to modern smartphones. This build was designed for durability over portability. Crafted with a plastic exterior and featuring a candy bar form factor, the phone housed a monochrome graphic display with a resolution of 96 x 32 pixels capable of displaying 2 lines of 12 characters each. The lack of a color display and the simplicity of the screen underlined the technology limitations of the era, yet provided clear visibility for basic operations.
