The Nokia 5230 features a 3.2-inch TFT resistive touchscreen, which at the time offered a decent viewing experience with 16 million colors and a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. This resulted in a pixel density of roughly 229 ppi, offering reasonable clarity and sharpness for reading text and viewing images. Being a resistive touchscreen, it required firmer presses compared to the capacitive screens that would soon dominate the market, and it supported handwriting recognition, which was a handy feature but limited in terms of accuracy and responsiveness compared to later technologies.
