Design and Build
Physically, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers a compact and utilitarian design, measuring 111 x 51.7 x 15.5 mm and weighing 109 grams. While not the slimmest of devices by modern standards, its robust build was typical for phones of its era. The device sports a 3.2-inch TFT resistive touchscreen capable of displaying 16 million colors, a vivid feature for its time, allowing a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, the resistive technology meant that it required more precise, often firmer, touches rather than the effortless gliding users experience on capacitive screens today. The inclusion of handwriting recognition, albeit simple, was Nokia's attempt to enhance user interaction.
