Under the hood, the Nokia 701 runs on a 1.0 GHz ARM11 processor, which can be upgraded to 1.3GHz, offering a noticeable bump in speed for users who performed the update. It initially came with Symbian Belle OS, which was a significant improvement over previous Symbian versions, and could be upgraded to Belle FP1. With these software enhancements, users experienced a more modern and fluid interface, featuring multiple homescreens and improved multitasking.
The phone boasts 8GB of internal storage, with the option to expand via a microSDHC card. It also features 512 MB of RAM, which was sufficient for handling everyday tasks, although it struggled with more intensive applications as technology advanced.
