Under the hood, the Oppo R7s houses the Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa-core CPU configuration. This consists of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and another four at 1.0 GHz, making it a competent performer for the typical tasks expected of mid-range devices of its time. Accompanied by an Adreno 405 GPU, the device provides adequate graphic processing power for gaming and multimedia. With 4GB of RAM, the phone was ahead of many competitors in ensuring smooth multitasking and performance. Out of the box, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop skinned with ColorOS 2.1, a user interface by Oppo that offers unique customizations and app management features.
