At its core, the Qtek 8600 runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone OS, an operating system that was quite advanced for its time but lacks the intuitiveness of today’s smartphone interfaces. The phone is powered by a Samsung 2442 CPU clocked at 300 MHz. While this provided adequate performance for basic applications and tasks then, it would be underwhelming by today's demanding app standards. The device includes 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM, with expandable storage via a dedicated microSD slot.
