Powered by the Android 2.1 Eclair operating system, with the possibility of an upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo, the Epic 4G was equipped with a 1.0 GHz Cortex-A8 processor and the Hummingbird chipset, paired with a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This combination provided a smooth user experience for its time, handling multitasking and basic applications effortlessly. While its 512MB of RAM and the same amount for internal storage were modestly sufficient, users could expand storage via a dedicated microSDHC slot.
