Performance and Battery Life
Running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, which includes a quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU and an Adreno 305 GPU. While these specs were reasonable at its release, they limit the tablet’s capabilities to basic tasks and light multitasking. The 1.5GB of RAM feels minimal, potentially leading to sluggish performance in more demanding applications. The back-end support, via microSD, provides some mitigation for the limited internal storage of 16GB. The non-removable 4450mAh Li-Po battery is impressive enough to offer talk time up to 11 hours and music playback up to 141 hours, promising a full day's use under normal conditions.
