Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7870 Octa chipset built on a 14 nm process. The octa-core processor, with configurations of 4x1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 and 4x1.0 GHz Cortex-A53, paired with a Mali-T830 MP1 GPU, ensures smooth operation for most everyday tasks. Initially shipped with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), it is upgradable to Android 8.1 (Oreo), which introduces enhancements and performance optimizations over its lifespan. The device's RAM and internal storage options range from a modest 2GB RAM and 16GB storage to a more substantial 3GB RAM available in the S Pen variants, with 32GB of storage at the high end.
