Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE houses a choice between two robust chipsets: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and the Exynos 5420 Octa. The Snapdragon 800 features a quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU paired with an Adreno 330 GPU, delivering seamless multitasking and gaming performance. The Exynos 5420 Octa version takes advantage of a more complex architecture with a combination of quad-core processors, optimizing efficiency and power distribution, with the Mali-T628MP6 GPU handling graphics tasks.

Originally running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the tablet is upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, allowing users to benefit from newer features and security updates. Samsung's TouchWiz UI sits atop the OS, providing additional functionalities and a custom look tailored to Samsung’s ecosystem.
