Performance and Network
The Samsung V820L operates on GSM and UMTS network technologies, supporting 2G bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G band UMTS 2100. At a speed capability of up to 384 kbps, it provides a basic browsing experience, sufficient for WAP 2.0/xHTML-based websites and lightweight mobile internet activities. As indicative of its launch period, the phone’s connectivity options are limited by contemporary standards. There is no WLAN or GPS functionality, but Bluetooth connectivity is supported, which was a useful feature for file transfers and connecting to wireless headsets. The proprietary USB interface also points to typical practices of the era, which can be considered a drawback today.
