Design and Build
The Sharp GX17 is relatively compact by today’s standards, measured at 106 x 45.5 x 17.4 mm and weighing in at just 85 grams. Its size and weight made it comfortable for one-handed use and easy to carry around in a pocket. The phone had room for a Mini-SIM, which was the standard at the time.
The design is simple and utilitarian, emphasizing functionality with its straight, angular lines, and modest color options. Its small footprint is thanks in part to the small 1.9-inch TFT display, which showcased a resolution of 120 x 160 pixels. Despite the low screen-to-body ratio of ~23.2%, the screen was adequate for straightforward tasks like messaging and browsing simple WAP sites.
