Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Xperia Ray is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon S2 chipset with a 1.0 GHz Scorpion CPU and an Adreno 205 GPU. This combination was capable of handling basic tasks comfortably, although modern demanding applications could be a challenge. It initially launched with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) but was upgradable to Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), ensuring access to more recent features and apps of that time. The internal memory of 1GB, with about 300MB available to the user, alongside 512MB of RAM, means users had to manage their storage efficiently. Thankfully, the inclusion of a microSDHC slot with a 4GB card included provided some relief for additional storage needs.
