Performance
Under the hood, the Xperia X8 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 Snapdragon S1 chipset with a 600 MHz ARM 11 CPU and an Adreno 200 GPU. Running initially on Android 1.6 (Donut) and upgradable to 2.1 (Eclair), it afforded a decent experience for basic smartphone functionality of its time. However, with only 168MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage, performance limitations became apparent, especially when multitasking or trying to run more demanding apps. Thankfully, memory can be expanded through a microSDHC card slot of up to 16 GB, with a 2GB card included to get users started.
