The device operated on 2G GSM and 3G HSDPA networks, with speeds up to 3.6 Mbps which, though limited today, were reasonably sufficient for the era's standards. Powering the Vodafone 830i was a removable Li-Ion battery, with a stand-by time of up to 250 hours and a talk time of up to 3 hours, providing respectable longevity for basic phone functions before needing a recharge.
