Performance
Under the hood, Xiaomi equipped the Redmi 1S with the Qualcomm MSM8228 Snapdragon 400 chipset and a quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, complemented by an Adreno 305 GPU. Initially released with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), it was upgradable to Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) paired with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.2, offering a smooth user interface. Although the phone includes 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, the dedicated microSDXC card slot allows for expanded storage, mitigating concerns over space for apps and media. While not a powerhouse by today's standards, this combination provided adequate performance for typical daily tasks in its time.
