Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Redmi was powered by a MediaTek MT6589T chipset, featuring a quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and a PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU. This configuration was capable of handling everyday tasks with relative ease, from browsing the web to running casual games. However, the 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (expandable via microSDHC) were somewhat limiting, especially as app sizes increased over time. The device ran on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which, at the time, provided a smooth user experience along with access to a variety of apps on the Google Play Store.
