Performance and Software
Under the hood, the ZTE Axon Max is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 chipset, an octa-core processor with a combination of four 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and four 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. This, paired with an Adreno 405 GPU, provided a reasonable level of performance for mid-range tasks. The phone comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card that shares the second SIM slot, giving users some flexibility when it comes to storage. Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop at launch, the software was slightly dated even by 2015 standards, as Android 6.0 Marshmallow had already been released, but it was stable and functional for most users' needs.
