The iPad 2 was powered by the Apple A5 chipset—a dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU. This combination marked a performance leap over the first-generation iPad, enabling smoother multitasking and improved graphics. It came with iOS 4 out of the box but could be upgraded to iOS 9.3.5, allowing users access to newer apps and features, albeit with some performance limitations due to hardware constraints. The 512MB RAM was modest, making demanding applications or extensive multitasking challenging.
