Performance and Software
Under the hood, the watch is powered by the Apple S1 chipset, accompanied by a 520 MHz Cortex-A7 CPU and PowerVR SGX543 GPU. While these specifications may seem modest by today’s standards, they delivered a smooth user experience when the device was launched. The watch originally shipped with watchOS 1.0, but Apple provided updates, making it upgradable to watchOS 4.3.2. This support extended its usability by introducing new features and improvements post-release. However, the 512MB of RAM and 8GB internal storage were limiting factors, especially as apps became more advanced.
