Performance and Software
Underneath its shell, the Playbook was powered by a TI OMAP 4430 chipset with a dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This hardware setup was quite competitive at the time, offering smooth performance for everyday tasks. It ran on the BlackBerry Tablet OS, which was distinct from the more commonplace Android and iOS platforms. This featured an interface optimized for touch, alongside multitasking capabilities. However, the operating system's proprietary nature led to limited app availability, one of its significant drawbacks.
