Connectivity and Networking
The phone was built for GSM 2G bands, supporting frequencies of GSM 900, 1800, and 1900, which were prevalent globally at the time. However, it notably lacked GPRS and EDGE support, hindering its ability to handle mobile data, which was just becoming more common. Interestingly, the T36 included Bluetooth functionality, a cutting-edge feature for its time. This feature underscored Ericsson’s forward-thinking approach to wireless connectivity despite the absence of WLAN, radio, or USB features. Additionally, the infrared port provided an alternative wireless data transfer method for short distances.
