Under the hood, the Gionee S96 was powered by a Mediatek MT6260 chipset with a 360 MHz CPU. As expected from a feature phone, there was no dedicated GPU, reflecting the focus on fundamental functionality over multimedia or gaming applications. The internal storage was limited to 128 MB, supplemented by 64 MB of RAM, which was consistent with the requirements of a feature phone in those times. Users could expand storage via a dedicated microSDHC slot, which was essential for storing media such as photos and audio files.
