Originally shipped with Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the LG G3 was upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, ensuring users could take advantage of newer Android features and improved security over time. LG's custom UI overlay included various useful features such as Knock Code, which allowed unlocking the phone with a sequence of taps, and Smart Notice, a precursor to today's digital assistants offering contextual information and reminders.
