The MIO 8860 was equipped with GSM 2G technology covering the 900, 1800, and 1900 bands, which would facilitate reliable global connectivity. It featured GPRS Class 10 for data transfer, although it lacked EDGE capability, limiting internet speed compared to emerging technologies at the time. Notably, it missed widespread connectivity options such as Bluetooth and WLAN, although it did include an infrared port, allowing for device-to-device communication, which was a popular feature in pre-smartphone eras.
